Dolores Cannon and Johnny Cannon were married and began doing hypnosis together to help patients get rid of habits like smoking and emotional eating. They discovered that they could go so deep into the subconscious, and could speak to who you used to be and discover where you were. Dolores has many amazing books, each one going deeper and deeper; gathering more knowledge with every step. In her later books, she eventually contacts “the source.” They helped pioneer past life regression.
Dolores speaks to these lives while they are in the “in between” and the descriptions of death closely align with many belief systems (buddhism, gnostic christianity, egyptian and native american sprituality, and the belief behind trascendental meditation.)
I’ve gathered a few quotes from her first book, 5 lives remembered. A free PDF is available when you click! This book was not published until much later as Dolores struggled to find a publisher in 1968. It was not published until 2009. This is a great starter book to begin to understand past life regression and deep subconscious fears that we forget the origin of. I want to parallel these quotes with some religious beliefs.
Here are some quotes from her patient during past life regression, regarding the afterlife.
The book contains the transcripts for these sessions. You will see the back and forth between hypnotist and patient. They are careful to not ask leading questions and let the information flow from within.
Johnny took the patient through a life she had led in civil war era Memphis. They were able to move forward to the time where she was in between that life and the next.
J:Is there any way the people could be made to hear you?
A:If they would listen; if they would think and listen. Concentrate very, very hard on us. If they loved us and we loved them, they could hear us.
J:And, have you heard anything about Hell?
A:That’s why I don’t want to be born again. Because that’s where it is.
J:You mean, being born is Hell?
A:To be on Earth is Hell.
J:Who told you this?
A:The spirits that I talked to. Because you keep doing things, and you hurt yourself and you hurt other people. You do mean things when you’re human, and spirits don’t do that. This is how you have to learn. You hurt … and you learn.
This almost exactly resembles the views of Tibetan Buddhism, where this place is known as BARDO. The concept of hell being Earth, where we are forced to forget what we have learned and try to do better, is also seen in Tibetan Buddhism. Click for more info!
The Christian Book of Jubilees also references how we forget, and how we must follow love in order to remember.
“And they will forget all My law and all My commandments and all My judgments, and will go astray as to new moons, and sabbaths, and festivals, and jubilees, and ordinances.”
So if so many people believe they are being loving and compassionate? Why do we keep going in this karmic wheel? Here is what the patient told Johnny…
A:You must learn how to be good. It isn’t right just to be good because you’re scared to be bad. You have to be good because you want to be. (Think about that for a moment.) And you do good things for people. You help people.
If you are scared to be bad, you fear the bad. What is there to fear? If you deny yourself the ability to do evil or be judgmental, you will be destroyed by evil and judgement. Even if you think you are doing good. You need to accept that all is one. You need to love who you hate, because you are them. Remember love is patient, kind and does not boast. Boasting includes forcing your beliefs onto others. Everyone has their own truth and beliefs, as long as their belief guides them to the truth of love, what could be wrong with that?

“People who deny the existence of dragons are often eaten by dragons. From within.”
URSULA K. LE GUIN
There is truth in all belief. When you truly believe, your belief becomes truth to you.
The Gospel of Mary further explains how we are all one, each with a little piece of the source in us.
The Savior said, All nature, all formations, all creatures exist in and with one another, and they will be resolved again into their own roots. For the nature of matter is resolved into the roots of its own nature alone. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Would you like to believe in a God who would punish you for making a mistake? I would not. I believe God/The Universe/The Stars does not punish you for making a mistake, it gives you the same test again. They want you to learn. If you suffer without lesson, you must take the class again.
The patients experiences also mirrors the belief about death in Tibetan Buddhism.
J:Is it… shouldn’t they be afraid of dying?
A:No!
J:What happens when you die?
A:Well, at first you feel very, very cold … and in a little bit, you’re gone. And you can look around, and you can see the people all around you. The people that loved you and have already died. They come to meet you so you won’t be afraid.
The patient describes how one leaves this place and ascends to the plane called Heaven. It has been mentioned above, compassion for every single perspective, love for every person, all lessons learned.
This can all sound a bit fantastical. Past life regression is something that is often dismissed. Highly recommend reading Dolores’ work. She adds no sensationalism, she is a reporter. All things mentioned in the regressed past lives are researched, and if they are found, they line up correct. Dolores’ is also a great speaker and she explains things very well. Here is a great video of hers.
I hope this brings you peace! Knowing that love is the way, I hope you will show compassion to those you think are far from yourself. This is how we learn!
If not, I hope you found it interesting. 🙂
REMEMBER THAT I LOVE YOU!
